As 2015 comes to a close, another filing season is about to begin. If you are an insurer, a self-insured employer, a provider of minimum essential coverage, or an applicable large employer with reporting requirements you have been granted an extension for filing Health Coverage Forms 1095-B, 1095-C, 1094-B and 1094-C.
In accordance with IRS Notice 2016-4 the following reporting due dates have been extended:
Forms being furnished to individuals for the 2015 year
Forms 1095-B: Health Coverage and 1095-C: Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage are being extended from the original due date of February 1, 2016 to an extended due date of March 31, 2016.
Forms being filed with the IRS for the 2015 year
Forms 1094-B: Transmittal of Health Coverage Information Returns, 1095-B: Health Coverage, 1094-C: Transmittal of Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage, and 1095-C: Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage are being extended from an original due date of February 29, 2016 to an extended due date of May 31, 2016 for Forms not being filed electronically, and to June 30, 2016 for Forms being filed electronically.
While the Forms have been granted an extended time to file, the Internal Revenue Service will be prepared to accept filings of the informational returns for Forms 1094-B, 1095-B, 1094-C, and 1095-C starting in January of 2016.
